The Essex Boys Championship was played on the 25th
of August at the Five Lake Golf and Country Club. The weather forecast
for the day was not good and there was a danger of the event being rained
off. Fortunately we had the luck with us and while the rest of the
county was suffering heavy rain and flooding during the day, the competitors
only had to endure the odd shower.
Huge Campbell of West Essex Golf Club won the
Essex Boys Championship with rounds of 70 + 73 for a 1 under par total of
143. His morning round of 70 (3 under the CSS of 73) also won him the
Telegraph Abu Dhaby Junior qualifying event. Runner-up in the Boys
Championship also from West Essex was Charlie Day with a score of 145.
Bobby Keeble of West Essex won the Boys Under 16 Championship with a score of 145.
