


Maylands Golf Club once again hosted this annual
fixture for these two trophies, both presented by past Presidents of the
Union. Ted Gaffney providing the Championship Cup.
Rising young star
Sam O’Brien (Stoke by Nayland Golf Club), is
the 2011 Essex Under 14’s Champion.
On this par 71 course he scored a one over par 72 to take the trophy from
George Tunbridge
(Bentley) who score a commendable score of 75, in third place was Elliot
Palmer (Chelmsord) with a 76 on county back.
The Fred Stillwell Trophy
on the insistence of its provider, who wanted every young lad to have a
chance of winning, is a handicap competition.
Michael Gilbert (Woolston
Manor) playing off a handicap of 22 came home with a net 63 to take this
trophy.
In second place was
Arron Edward-Hill (the Warren) with a nett 65
on count back and third place was taken by
Elliot Palmer (Chelmsford) with a nett 65
