Essex Colts faced an improving Bedfordshire Colts at the testing Colne Valley Golf Course on Saturday 28th August. A largely untried Essex Team with just one previous win under their belt got off to a tremendous start and led by 3 1/2 games to 1/2 after the morning foursomes. However, it was clear from the morning foursomes that Lee Potter who had a nasty car accident in 2008 and who plays with 5 pins in his leg was in trouble and was suffering more pain than usual. During the afternoon singles Lee played 14 holes before deciding that the pain was too bad and conceded his game and was taken off to hospital.
Never the less the remainder of the team
continued their fine form with wins from Reece Phillips, Jack Hiigs,
Jonathan Day, Owen Pearl, and Nick Gates and a halved match from the Captain
Jay Beiser. Essex now go on to play
Hertfordshire on 11th September at
West Herts Golf Club with the winners going through to the South Eastern
