A bright and
calm morning saw most of the team struggling. Arthur Leonard and Danny
Carroll bucked the trend with a fine 7 and 6 win to leave us 3 – 1 down at
lunch.
The afternoon
weather quickly made its intensions clear, no sooner than the second pairing
were teeing off than a very close flash of lightening called a halt to
proceedings. Those on the course were brought back in and Bedfordshire began
talking of closing the match after the foursomes.
After a delay of
twenty minutes play was resumed, only to be threatened and delayed again by
passing thunder clouds. During the dry spells the whole team dug deep into
their reserves. Captain Reece Phillips and Danny Carroll both posted early
4&3 wins to boost morale.
The team went on
to obtain a hard fought 6 ½ - 1 ½ win. Four of the eight matches being
decided on the eighteenth green. Jordan Slater called in for the first time
won his match 2&1.
We now need to
win against a strong Hertfordshire in our last match to go forward to the
finals.
