The Herron GC was the venue for our annual pre season. fixture against Kent and our second match of 2025. With a couple of debutants and some other relatively inexperienced members of the squad playing we knew this would be a very tough match for us. The morning foursomes proved to be a close set of matches and with a win and two halves we found ourselves trailing at lunchtime by a score of 3-2. We had ground to make up in the afternoon singles against a very strong Kent lineup.

We needed a strong start and victories in the top 3 singles games for Charlie Croker, Ollie Allison & Mitch Wellington on debut was exactly the start we needed to overturn the deficit. We still required 6 of the 10 singles matches to go our way to claim a victory meaning we needed at least 3 more points. As the afternoon wore on and it turned much colder, our guys were focused and determined to get the job done. Victory for another debutant Sam Epstein and a big win for Ryan Cox meant we were a point away from securing an excellent come from behind match result. The winning point was delivered by Dylan Hussey and further wins in the back two matches meant we ran our comfortable 10-5 victors on the day. The afternoon performance from all of the team was exceptional, the two losses we both on the 18th green so even those games could have gone our way.

We would like to thank Tony and his Kent team for travelling across the river to play us and wish them a good season ahead, also thanks to The Herron GC for hosting the match.

Our next fixture is against the Essex Pro's in April at Frinton GC.
