Our annual match against the Essex PGA Pros took place on a beautiful spring day at the usual venue of Frinton GC. with benign conditions we looked set for some low scoring from the top amateurs and local pros and we were not disappointed. The morning foursomes were biased towards the County Team who's familiarity of partnerships proved decisive and a 4-1 lunch time lead. A couple of big victories in the top & bottom matches along with an excellent win for the youngest pairing of Will Wright & Frankie Morton were the highlights.

This gave the Pro's a tough task in the afternoon singles and with the top 3 matches being shared 1.5 points apiece the County Team needed a further 2.5 points for victory. Strong performances from Toby Peters, Freddie Warn, Dylan Hussey and Mitch Sarling meant the singles result was 6.5-3.5 in our favour and an overall scoreline of 10.5-4.5 meant we retained the trophy. A really pleasing team effort against a strong group of county professionals now stands us in good stead for the season ahead which begins with The Eastern County Foursomes at Seacroft GC in May.

Our thanks go out to the Pro's who once again gave us a real test and to Frinton GC for hosting the match so well. We look forward to returning in 2026 to do battle once again.
