The annual Cheshunt Salver "friendly" against old adversaries Hertfordshire took place at West Essex Golf Club on Tuesday 27th May. Each side comprising 6 Under 16 boys and 6 from the under 18 squad. The format being 6 Foursomes matches in the morning and 12 singles in the afternoon with age group against corresponding age group.

Whilst the course was in excellent condition, the same couldnt be said of the weather. With strong a breeze and rain in the air both teams produced some great golf and it became evident that this would become a closely fought contest. And so this proved with the morning Foursomes tied at 3 points each by lunchtime.

With the rain increasing in severity the afrternoon singles aginn continued in the same vein with the first 4 games tied at 2 all and the remaining matches nip and tuck between the 2 sides. Eventually Hertfordshire came out victorious by the narrowest of margins.

The Essex lads should be proud of a stern test given to a very good Herts outfit despite the loss.

We look forwards to sweet revenge in the League match at Verulam on Sunday 13th July.

Our thanks to West Essex for their excellently presented course and hospitality on the day.
