On a stifling hot day at a very baked Beds & County GC we took on Bedfordshire in our second SE League match of the season. The team were ready to try to continue our winning start last month and the morning foursomes got us off to a good start. Matches 1 & 3 were going our way pretty much from the off and although we narrowly lost the last match on 18 we went into lunch with a 3-1 lead. But the job was certainly not done and a very spirited home team gave us a lot of fantastic matches in the singles. At the turn we were down in 5 of the 8 matches and it was looking tight for us to get over the line, however some gritty determination over the back 9 allowed us to eventually get the win. Six of the singles matches went to at least the penultimate green and the boys had to dig deep to clinch the points we needed. The final scoreline does not reflect the closeness of the match. We thank Scott and his Bedfordshire team for another excellent County Team match and to my team I once again wonder at our team spirit and togetherness that got the job done. Onto our next fixture which is the start of the defence of our National Championship title with the 6man qualifier on 12th July.
