The second triangular League match of the season was played against BB&O and Middlesex at the excellent Castle Royle Golf Club in the heart of the Berkshire countryside.
It had become apparent in the preceeding days that all 3 teams were having difficulty fielding their strongest players due to clashes with the local Berkshire trophy tournament in addition to exam season for the boys. Indeed Middlesex were unfortunately the worst affected having to put out a more or less reserve squad. Despite some valiant effeorts by the Middx lads they only manage a half a point against BB&O and none at all against Essex.
This basically left a 2 horse race with Essex and BB&O battling out a return match from the first fixture some 6 weeks earlier at Brentwood where Essex had come out victorious.
Despite taking the first 2 points with Toby Peters and Will Wright the match was determined with both Henry Linley and Teddy Hobbs losing points from winning positions down the stretch with some excellent scoring from both sets of players.
BB&O therefore coming out victorious and gaining their revenge.
The matches were as always played in great spirit and thanks to BB&O's Malcolm Reid for the efficiently organised event and to CRGC for the use of their excellent facilites and hospitality
