Essex Seniors Championship Rules

<p>The 2025 Championship is due to be played over 36 holes over two days. <br />Competitors will be required to follow the Essex Golf Union's guidelines that will be issued to each competitor at the time of the draw. <br />36-holes Scratch Stroke Play Competition played over two days.<br />Open to players 55 years of age on the day of the event, handicap limit &ndash; 13.0<br />The competitor returning the lowest Gross Aggregate Score to be the winner of the Championship.<br />Handicap prizes will be awarded in the following categories; over 55, over 60, over 65 and over 70.</p>
<p>The Essex Golf Union's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.essexgolfunion.org/uploads/essexunion/File/Rules/Spectator%20Code.pdf" target="_blank">Spectator Code&nbsp;</a>will be in effect during this event.</p>
<p>Essex Golf Union (&ldquo;EGU&rdquo;) CODE OF CONDUCT<br />The Board of EGU has resolved to adopt the following Code of Conduct as part of the Rules of EGU and Local Rules for EGU events.<br />1. This code applies to all players and their caddies participating in golf events under the control and regulation of EGU. This includes all Inter Club Knockout competitions.<br />2. All persons covered by this code of conduct must adhere to standards of golfing conduct and sportsmanship specified in the Rules of Golf or commonly accepted by the Affiliated Clubs.<br />3. Breaches of this code of conduct may result in disciplinary proceedings being brought under the EGU disciplinary code<br />4. Persons to whom this code applies must:<br />a. During practice days and from Registration through to the close of competition or match:<br />(i) conduct themselves according to the provisions and &lsquo;spirit&rsquo; of Rule 1.2 within the Rules of Golf and must not act in a manner which might bring the game into disrepute, AND<br />(ii) Strive to maintain the good name and reputation of their Golf Clubs and other bodies administering golf.<br />NOTE: a serious breach or repetitive breaches of part<br />(i) of this paragraph may lead to the disqualification of a player under Rule 1.2a.<br />b. Comply with the Rules and By-Laws of the host club and of EGU.<br />c. Exercise proper care for the course, for example raking bunkers, replacing divots and repairing pitch and spike marks on greens.<br />d. Refrain from using threatening, abusive, profane, or insulting language or gestures or otherwise being disrespectful to another person (players, caddies, spectators, referees, or officials) during a golf event.<br />e. Refrain from committing golf equipment abuse or abuse to the course or host club&rsquo;s property. EGU Championship events and all inter-club matches and individual Matchplay events where EGU rules officials or county officials are in attendance, the following procedures will apply to any player, who may be in breach of this code;</p>
<p>1st Offence at the event The player will be issued with a first warning at the course/during the event. This warning may be issued by any EGU Referee officiating at the event or member of the Essex Golf Union Championship Committee.<br />2nd Offence at the event In the event of a 2 nd offence (which does not have to be directly related to the first offence) the player will be informed that their actions will be reported to the EGU Championship Committee under the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.essexgolfunion.org/uploads/essexunion/File/Disciplinary%20Procedure/Disciplinary%20&amp;%20Grievance%20Procedure.pdf" target="_blank">County&rsquo;s Disciplinary and Grievance Procedure&nbsp;</a>for a breach of regulations. The decision to issue a warning will rest with the Lead Referee at the event, or if no rules officials are present, the EGU official in charge of administration at the event. Notwithstanding the above Code of Conduct, the Championship Committee may also disqualify a player at an event for serious misconduct in failing to meet the code&rsquo;s standards (Rule 1.2b). In the event of such a disqualification at an event, this will be deemed as an offence under the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.essexgolfunion.org/uploads/essexunion/File/Disciplinary%20Procedure/Disciplinary%20&amp;%20Grievance%20Procedure.pdf" target="_blank">Essex Golf Union&rsquo;s Disciplinary and Grievance procedure.</a><br /><br />All Inter-Club Matches, Allan Lockwood Trophy Matches and Strokeplay events where EGU rules officials or county officials are NOT in attendance. A player who is reported for allegedly breaching the Code of Conduct at any of the above events will be referred to the Championship Committee. As a result of this, the player&lsquo;s actions may be considered under the EGU&rsquo;s Disciplinary and Grievance procedure. The player will be advised by the Championship Committee of any action taken as a result of such a referral. Note: Any breach of the code by the player&rsquo;s caddie may result in sanctions being imposed against the player</p>
