On a cloudy morning we arrived at Enfield GC to play our second triangular league match of the 2023 season against Middlesex, who were hosting, and BB&O. By the time we teed off the weather had improved and we were in for a warm and humid afternoon. The boys were again on top form and well prepared for the matches to come. Dylan Hussey led the team off but unfortunately lost his match on 18, Next out was Mason Barningham who produced 1.5 points from his two matches. Ollie Baker managed a victory on the last to bring home two points on the day and Ed Mason had two comfortable victories in his matches. A solid performance from Dawson Langan produced another two points for us and following him was Henry Styles who was in two very close battles against his counterparts from Middlesex and BB&O, both of his matches going to 18 but he emerged with 1,5 points. Charlie Rusbridge also went to 18 with both of his opponents but was only able to secure 0.5 points and bringing up the rear of the field was our trusty anchorman and Boys Captain Marley Read, who produced some excellent golf to win both of his points with relative comfort.

So the final results were Essex 6-2 BB&O and Essex 5.5-2,5 Middlesex. This means we have four wins from four, and with one final fixture to come at home in August we are almost there with qualification for the league final in September. We thank Enfield GC and Middlesex County for their kind hosting and look forward to welcoming Alan and his team to Essex in August.

This was the final county match for our Boys Team Captian Marley Read who is off to the USA to start his college at the beginning of August. He has been a great captain and led the boys admirably and we wish him every success across the pond. I'm sure he will be back to see us when he is home. Go well Marley and enjoy your time in Florida.
