On a windy August day at Crondon Park GC Essex took on Middlesex & Hertfordshire in our last league triangular match of the season. Ed Linley lead us off and in a very good match ended with a half against Middlesex but unfortunately lost to the Hertfordshire captain on the 17th. Harry Flynn was off no.2 and played some good golf to win 5&4 against Middlesex but met the Hertfordshire county champion on form and went down 3&2. Next out was Dylan Hussey who had two very comfortable wins by 8&6 and 5&4. Fourth out was Max Porteous who was defeated 2&1 in both his close matches. Fifth out for Essex was Henry Linley who played some excellent golf to win both his games, 7&6 and 5&4. Toby Peters followed Henry with a couple of fine wins himself, 6&4 and 5&3. Next out was Charlie Rusbridge who had a half with Hertfordshire but went down 2&1 to Middlesex. Finally we saw some really good golf from Henry Styles who was victorious 5&4 and 4&2.
This match provided an opportunity for some members of the squad to show what they could do with holidays meaning a number of players were away, and the boys produced the goods again in testing conditions to finally end up with two wins and meaning we finish the league with 6 wins from 6. We now look forward to the league final in September against Surrey and Suffolk.
Results Essex 5.5-2.5 Middlesex Essex 4.5-3.5 Hertfordshire
