A very good performance by the players, some making their U14s debuts. Most of the team were at the venue early and were keen and eager to play. The new players were handed their county caps, which they quickly put on and appeared to be very proud to be wearing them.
The match was played off scratch. The games were played in a very friendly and competitive manner. A few errors made by some of the newer players, which changed the course of the games and could have gone either way.
Essex lost 6-4 to a very competitive Middlesex team.
