Northwood GC was the venue for our 2nd triangular league match of the year and due to the late season fixture meant we were missing a large number of players. However this meant a fantastic opportunity for some of the younger lads, many form the U16s squad to step up and take on the challenge. In fact we had 6 of the 8 players making their U18s debut and how they responded. There was no question they were ready for it and they all did themselves proud with their behaviour on and off the golf course and also their performances. We ended up with 2 victories on the day 6-2 against middlesex and 4.5-3.5 against BB&O, I would like to than Mark White (U16s manager) for allowing me to use his players and I hope they have all gained valuable experience and that they enjoyed the matches at the higher level. We have our final league fixture on the 25th August where we will need 1 victory from the 2 matches to reach the league final and even without a number of the older players it would seem that the strength in depth is certainly there and the younger lads will be out in force again ready and willing to play their hearts out for Essex.
